The dotOrganize Survey

dotOrganize recently completed a survey of nonprofit organizations
engaged in online organizing. The goal of the survey was to get a
comprehensive understanding of how groups are approaching this work --
how they manage and engage their constituents, what tools work and
don't work for them, what keeps them from implementing technology
effectively, and many other related questions.
The
survey received nearly 400 responses from a wide variety of
organizations. The results paints a fascinating picture of the state of
the nonprofit technology sector today.
Some preliminary findings:
- Over half of respondents store constituent data in more than four places -- and 20% have more than ten separate databases
- 61% want to use the web to gather "feedback on organizational goals and priorities"
- Almost half want to accept online donations, but currently cannot
We're currently aggregating the data into a comprehensive online report, which will be available September 15, 2006.
To those who participated in the survey, THANK YOU very much!
